Barrhead

Project Overview
Scottish Water is preparing to submit a planning application for specific elements of a proposed wastewater network improvement project in the Woodside Crescent and Aurs Burn area of Barrhead.
Separately, investigation work will take place on Aurs Road to help inform the design for future network improvements. This element of work does not require a planning application and will therefore take place in August.
The overall programme of work aims to reduce the risk of sewage-related debris, such as wet wipes, entering the environment during periods of heavy rainfall, helping to protect the local watercourse and surrounding area.
The work is being delivered by Caledonia Water Alliance on our behalf.

What We Are Doing
Woodside Crescent
We are preparing to submit a planning application for specific elements of a proposed wastewater network improvement project in the Woodside Crescent and Aurs Burn area of Barrhead.
The planning application covers part of the proposed project next to Aurs Burn, to the north-west of Woodside Crescent. This includes installing a new manhole and outfall pipe, carrying out some localised ground re-profiling and adding protection to the burn to help prevent erosion and safeguard the new infrastructure.
The planning application is expected to be submitted in the coming weeks, with full details available on East Renfrewshire Council's planning portal once registered.
Aurs Road
Separately, investigation work will take place on Aurs Road from Monday, 3 August, for up to two weeks to help inform the design of future improvements to the wastewater network.
The work will involve excavating a number of trial holes to assess ground conditions, existing sewer infrastructure and the location of other utility services.
Temporary traffic lights and a lane closure will be in place while the work is carried out, and sections of footpath may also be temporarily closed.
Why We Are Doing It
Once complete, these improvements will help reduce the risk of sewage-related debris, such as wet wipes, entering the environment during periods of heavy rainfall, helping to protect the local watercourse and surrounding area.
