Bathgate Sewer Upgrades

Project Overview
Scottish Water is carrying out sewer upgrades in Bathgate, which aims to reduce the risk of sewer flooding in the area by increasing the capacity of the local wastewater network.
An earlier phase of the project involved road and lane closures on Hens Nest Road and Cannop Crescent to allow upgrades to the sewer network. This work has now been completed.
The next phase of work requires temporary traffic lights on Cannop Crescent and an updated road closure on Hens Nest Road.
The work is being carried out by George Leslie on behalf of Scottish Water Horizons.

What We Are Doing
The final section of work on Hens Nest Road is now underway and is expected to be completed by Friday, 21 August. The current road closure and traffic management will remain in place until then and will be removed once work is complete. The bus stop on Hens Nest Road is expected to return to normal operation from Monday, 24 August.
Traffic management on Cannop Crescent will remain in place until Friday, 28 August. To help complete the project as quickly as possible and minimise further disruption, we will also be carrying out work on the private road this weekend between 8am and 5pm.
We would like to apologise for the extended disruption these works have caused. Unforeseen operational challenges have resulted in changes to the original programme, and we recognise that updates could have been communicated more effectively. We will be reviewing the delivery of this project with our partners to ensure lessons are learned.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding while we complete these essential improvements.

Why We Are Doing It
The work aims to ensure the local wastewater network is able to meet demand in Bathgate for many years to come and reduce the risk of flooding.
