Protecting the environment
The investment is designed to protect the community from flooding and improve the water environment
What We Are Doing
The projects will see construction of replacement storm overflows within the grass area between Moorhouse Avenue and Cross Road and at Candren Burn at Meikleriggs Drive.
Along with associated new pipework, the projects will improve water quality and reduce sewer-related debris to the burn during periods of heavy rainfall.
A site compound to support both projects will be installed off-road in the area at the junction of Moorhouse Avenue and Meikleriggs Drive.
Both projects are scheduled to begin in September 2026 and should be completed within 12 months.
Everything will be done to minimise any disruption and we would like to thank the community in advance for their support, patience and understanding.
Why We Are Doing It
Working closely with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) Scottish Water identified priority storm overflows for improvement or replacement.
Under the banner ‘Draining the Rain, Enhancing the Environment’ the investment will help prevent sewage related debris such as wet wipes from entering the environment during periods of rainfall.
