Kinloss Pumping Station Repair

Made Safe

A large sinkhole has opened up close to our pumping station on the Southside Estate in Kinloss. The area has been fenced off for safety.

Update June 2026

From Monday 8 June, we will begin work on North Road for approximately four weeks. This phase of work will involve replacing the concrete slab covering the pumping station and repairing the road where the sinkhole has formed. Traffic management will be in place to allow this work to be carried out safely.

Once work on North Road is complete, we will move to South Road for a further four weeks to replace the pumping station slab there.

As previously advised, the sewer network within the estate - aside from the pumping stations - is privately owned. We have engaged with the factor to ensure they are aware of the situation and the planned works.

We understand that this has been a concerning situation for residents and appreciate the community’s patience while these repairs are carried out.

What We Are Doing

A large sinkhole has opened up close to our pumping station on the Southside Estate in Kinloss caused by a collapse on one of the private sewers further upstream.

Given it would not be practical to complete repairs to the pumping station without repairing the damaged private pipe we intend to complete both simultaneously.

We are currently arranging for equipment to be set up on site to allow the waste water flows to be pumped around the damaged section, maintaining a service and protecting the environment.

The sewer is approximately five metres underground so will require an extensive excavation to expose and repair and we are liaising with all relevant agencies to get the necessary permissions in place and the work underway.

We would like to thank anyone affected for their patience and understanding.
