Protecting the environment
The investment is designed to protect the community from flooding and improve the water environment
What We Are Doing
The first project will see construction of a replacement storm overflow to house a powered screen within the grass area surrounding Grangepans Pumping Station with some local sewer re-alignment work.
Work to set up a site compound began on Monday 10 August 2026 and the programme of work at Grangepans is expected to be completed within approximately eight months.
Why We Are Doing It
Working closely with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) Scottish Water identified priority storm overflows for improvement or replacement.
Under the banner ‘Draining the Rain, Enhancing the Environment’ the investment will help prevent sewage related debris such as wet wipes from entering the environment during periods of rainfall.
