What We Are Doing

The improvement project will get underway on Beaconsfield Place from Monday, 17 August 2026, with work expected to take approximately nine months to complete.

The investment will include the replacement of the existing storm overflow and the installation of new pipework to strengthen and improve the performance of the local wastewater network.

To allow the work to be completed safely, there will be no access to Beaconsfield Place from Bridge Street for the duration of the project.

Some on-street parking restrictions will also be required on Beaconsfield Place; however, access to local businesses and properties will be maintained throughout.

Site access for construction vehicles and crews will be via St Cuthbert Street. A small welfare unit and storage area will be located within the site compound, with generators used to power these facilities during working hours only. Generators will not operate overnight.

We appreciate this work may cause some temporary disruption and would like to thank local residents, businesses and visitors for their patience and understanding while we carry out these essential improvements.

We will continue to keep customers, businesses, and stakeholders updated as the project progresses.

Why We Are Doing It
