Burdiehouse Edinburgh Sewer Upgrade
Project Overview
We have successfully completed our £130k investment to improve the sewer network and help prevent flooding along Burdiehouse Burn.
As part of this work, around 1,100 metres of ageing pipe - which was in poor condition and located along the burn - has now been safely taken out of use.
Work was delivered by Clancy Docwra on our behalf.

Burdiehouse Burn
Over a kilometre of old pipe will be abandoned with wastewater flows diverted to alleviate flooding and improve the water quality of the burn
Update May 2026
We have successfully completed our project to improve the sewer network and help prevent flooding along Burdiehouse Burn.
As part of this work, around 1,100 metres of ageing pipe - which was in poor condition and located along the burn - has now been safely taken out of use. Wastewater flows have been successfully diverted to ensure the network continues to operate effectively.
The site was set up in April 2026 within the park area just off Burdiehouse Drive, and we worked closely with the local community throughout to minimise disruption. The footpath through the area has now been fully reopened.
These improvements will help prevent further deterioration of the sewer network and reduce the risk of flooding in the surrounding area and the burn. The work has also supported the delivery of the Burdiehouse Crescent phase of the ‘Restore the Burn’ project led by Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust.
We would like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation while this essential work was carried out.
