Project Overview

Scottish Water is nearing completion of its £38 million investment between Peterhead and Ellon, with 23 kilometres of trunk water main upgraded overall.

This work will strengthen the resilience of the water network, helping ensure customers enjoy fresh, clear drinking water for years to come while reducing the risk of burst pipes.

Latest Update - May 2026

We are pleased to confirm that all of the new pipework for this project has now been installed and connected. The water supply was fully in service by the end of March and has been operating as normal since then.

The remaining work is minor and includes final checks, tidying up the site and completing some reinstatement works. We also need to carry out commissioning of flow meters, but this work will not affect customers’ water supplies.

We'd like to thank customers for their continued patience throughout the duration of this essential project.
