Occumster Water Main Upgrade

Project Overview
We are pleased to confirm the successful completion of the first phase of water main renewal between Occumster and Lower Camster. The work aims to ensure we can deliver a reliable and resilient water supply now and in the future.
We will now be starting phase 2 of the work, which will involve installing approximately 4.7km of new water main in two locations.
The work is split into two sections. Section 1 – Roster to Upper Camster (Start date 10th November for approx. 3 months) and Section 2 – Upper Lybster (Start date January 2026 for approx. 6 months).
Our contractor GMR Henderson will be carrying out this work on our behalf and they will do all they can to keep disruption to a minimum.

What happens next?
For the Roster to Upper Camster section, similar to previous work we carried out along the C1029 we will require a rolling road closure during this section. Due to the length of the diversion route, there will be timed access slots during the day where we will facilitate access to customers with the closure.
For the Upper Lybster section starting in January, a similar approach will be used with timed access slots to try and maintain access as much as possible for residents.
Community Engagement
Ahead of these works we will be had anInformation Event in Lybster Community Hall, on Thursday 30th October 2025. Posters displayed at the event can be found in the Documents Hub.
