Scottish Water confirms companies which will help deliver multi-billion pound transformation of water and waste water infrastructure

Scottish Water has confirmed the partner companies which will work with it to transform the country’s water and waste water infrastructure in the publicly-owned utility’s biggest programme of investment ever.

The seven companies who will collaborate with Scottish Wateron the joint enterpriseaimed at enhancing Scotland’s water and waste water assets over the period from 2027 to 2033 – will help preserve the nation’s world-class water quality, protect the environment, and ensure services continue to meet the needs of the utility’s customers.

The initial six-year delivery period of the joint-enterprise is part of a proposed £8bn investment outlined in the recently published 2027-33 Business Plan.

The companies which will work with Scottish Water as part of the joint venture, known as The Enterprise, are:

  • Stantec – Primary Designer
  • Aecom – Primary Designer
  • M Group Water – Asset Delivery Partner
  • Mott MacDonald Bentley – Asset Delivery Partner
  • Farrans Limited – Asset Delivery Partner
  • WGM Engineering – Asset Delivery Partner
  • Ross-Shire Engineering – Asset Delivery Partner

“It represents a significant evolution in how we approach capitalinvestments. It's designed to drive innovation, efficiency, and sustainability, aligning with our long-term goals of environmental stewardship and community enhancement. We’re eager to partner with others to achieve these ambitions."

It is anticipated that the initial six-year investment programme will support job creation both direct and indirect to the supply chain; including new roles resulting from increased investment and opportunities for young people.

Beyond job creation, The Enterprise will enable its partners to contribute to local communities and prioritise social value through 6,000 volunteering days, and community engagement. 

The programme includes approximately 426 educational visits over the six-year delivery period, further supporting community development and education.
