2026 Commonwealth Games
Scotland’s famed world-class water will ensure visitors, officials and athletes will stay fully refreshed, hydrated and engaged in water saving across the time Glasgow hosts this exciting event.
Known as the “friendly games” due to their welcoming and inclusive nature, the Glasgow event is due to start on July 23 and Scottish Water with the Commonwealth Games are making this the ‘water friendly Games.’
Ten top up taps across Glasgow, co-branded with the Commonwealth Games, will be promoted to all to ensure everyone has easy access to water and reduce single use plastic by refilling bottles around the city.
Kelvingrove Park is hosting the Games Live site where everyone can soak up the atmosphere and take part in Scottish Water’s fun ‘Fete’ style activities to win prizes. There will also be three Top Up Taps – Gold Silver and Bronze – in the park so everyone can win a medal moment.
Around 700,000 additional people are expected in the city over the 11 days of sport. Scottish Water is working behind the scenes to ensure the utility provision is gold standard.
Peter Farrer, Scottish Water’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are Games-ready and will ensure our performance will help us lead the way in keeping everyone hydrated and refreshed. Our water is world famous for being great tasting – 89% of people say its world class – so we’re looking forward to many thousands of visitors from around the world coming to Glasgow and enjoying it from one of our high-tech taps throughout Glasgow.
“This is a great occasion for the city, for Scotland, for the Commonwealth family, and we are enormously proud to be named as an official supporter for the Games by playing our part putting the country’s publicly owned water supply at the heart of the event.”
